Dave Doody

Dave manages Executive Compensation and Performance Measurement Services for the Chicago Office. His areas of expertise include business performance alignment, shareholder value based performance measures, compensation strategy and plan design, equity incentive programs (stock options, stock-based incentives, phantom equity plans etc), and implementation/communication of compensation programs and performance measures. He has also worked with companies on broad-based compensation issues, such as compensation cost management, reward programs, and driving performance measures throughout the organization.

Previously, Dave was a practice leader with two large consulting firms, Mercer Consulting and Pearl Meyer & Partners. He has also gained extensive corporate experience through leading the compensation function of a Fortune 500 company. Dave was a practicing lawyer and C.P.A.

Laurence Karsh

Laurence specializes in executive compensation, organization effectiveness, pre-employment and promotion assessment, and executive coaching. He creates compensation systems that are performance based and linked to an organization’s business strategy to drive results. He is an expert in incentive plan design, job measurement, and market pricing. His line management and Board experience makes him very effective in dealing with practical and effective business solutions.

Laurence has 30 years of experience working in and consulting to organizations in the service sector, technology, manufacturing, education, government, engineering and construction, health care, not-for-profit, utilities and transportation.

He served as the President of the Americas for the SHL Group between 2002 and 2006. SHL is the world’s leading provider of on-line assessment instruments for employee selection and development. He managed offices in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, turning this break even region to profitability by creating nearly $20 million of free cash flow.

Laurence also spent 14 years with the Hay Group as Vice President and Managing Director for seven offices in the United States. He was also accountable for Hay’s Employee Benefits practice and their Employee Attitude Survey business. He had accountability for $60 million of revenue.

David Leach

David advises boards and top management on their executive compensation programs. He works with them to design and implement strategies and programs to help companies run their businesses and increase shareholder value. For more than 25 years, he has consulted with a broad range of companies in the industrial, technology, and service sectors.

He is on the faculty for Corporate Director Training at The Anderson School of UCLA. A frequent speaker on executive compensation issues, David has been interviewed and quoted by The Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, Business Week, Forbes Magazine, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, CNBC, and CNN. In addition, he has authored articles for various publications including Directorship, Director’s Monthly, HR Executive, Compensation and Benefits Management, and WorldatWork Journal.

Prior to co-founding Strategic Apex Group LLC, David served as National Director of Compensation Consulting for Buck Consultants in New York City, National Practice Leader and Board Member with Compensation Resource Group (now Clark Consulting), and Principal with Towers Perrin in Los Angeles and Cincinnati. Prior to consulting, Mr. Leach managed the compensation programs at Merrill Lynch.

Alan A. Nadel

Alan has 35 years experience serving a diverse range of clients, advising on matters relating to executive and board of directors compensation, employee benefits, retirement and savings programs, and income and estate planning. He advises clients on the strategic, financial, accounting, and tax considerations of these programs.

Prior to co-founding Strategic Apex, Alan was a partner in two major accounting firms and was a principal with an actuarial and benefits consulting firm. This included 19 years at Arthur Andersen LLP where he established Andersen’s compensation and benefits consulting practice and served as Managing Partner - Human Capital. Previously Alan was with the Internal Revenue Service.

Alan is the author of Accounting for Equity Compensation, and was a co-author of the Employee Benefits Handbook, The Stock Options Book and Executive Compensation In ESOP Companies. He has lectured on Executive Compensation at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and at the LLM program of the New York University School of Law. Alan is a frequent speaker before professional and industry groups.
